Throughout his heroic battle against cancer, Massi had his spirits lifted countless times by some of his favorite teams (Philadelphia Eagles, Arsenal, UPenn Men’s Soccer, etc.). This inspired Massi to start Jerseys4Kids to provide other kids facing similar diagnoses the same support, strength and solidarity.
A two-sport athlete, Massimo (Massi) Agosti was playing travel soccer and running track in March 2022 at age 14 when he developed pain in his right knee.
A series of tests revealed he had metastatic osteosarcoma, an extremely rare and life-threatening bone cancer that affects just 400-500 children per year in the US.
The journey was tough, but Massi was tougher. The kid who broke four bones during a seven-year soccer career brought his characteristic strength and resilience to this fight and inspired people around the world with his tenacity as well as his generosity. He never gave up, fighting literally until his last breath on May 18, 2024.
Massi’s light burned brightest during the darkest days of his battle, and his legacy will continue to shine through Jerseys4Kids and the many children we support.

Osteosarcoma is an extremely rare bone cancer affecting 400-500 children per year in the United States. Most children first present with severe pain during a growth spurt, often in their arm or leg, and ultimately undergo scans and biopsies to diagnose the disease.
Sadly, osteosarcoma patients confront the same reality today that they did 40 years ago: a choice between two life-changing surgical options (amputation or limb salvage surgery), a grueling 8-9 months of multi-agent, high-dose chemotherapy, and a relatively poor therapeutic outcomes.
Learn
This reality is in part due to osteosarcoma’s rarity, which prevents it from garnering the same research focus that other, more common cancers have received. Only four percent of federal cancer funding is dedicated to researching pediatric cancers, and since osteosarcoma is among the rarest of pediatric cancers, the fraction of research funding focused on it is almost too small to calculate.
Learn
Through its fundraising efforts and impacts on the lives of children, Jerseys4Kids aims to shine a spotlight on osteosarcoma and to promote research to help scientists develop better treatments and ultimately defeat the disease, one grant at a time.
